About this wine
Region – McLaren Vale
Grape Variety – Carignan – Home Block
Colour – Bright cherry red with purple hues
Nose – Brambly, earthy notes are quickly followed by bright
red fruits, akin to running into a blackberry bush or hand
picking fresh raspberries, finishing with a potpourri of juniper
and lavender
Palate – A bright burst of cranberry, redcurrant and
blackcurrant are complemented by an earthy backbone of
beetroot and rhubarb. Firm tannin and fine acid drive the
finish with hints of white pepper, cardamom, clove, all spice
and fennel seed
Drink – Now til, well, that’s the surprise!
Food Match – Plate of charcuterie or smoked lamb with a
Moroccan couscous and pomegranate salad
Vinification – Hand picked (first crop), whole bunch, wild
fermentation, six days carbonic maceration before being
foot trodden daily, basket pressed after 18 days on skins,
pressed to S/S tank, minimal SO2 added post MLF in August
2019 and prior to bottling in November 2019. Not quite
natural all the way, but pretty close.
